Rachel Keller

Rachel Keller is a fictionalized character from The Ring movie series. The character was invented by writer and producer Ehren Kruger and voiced by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist of The Ring and The Ring Two and shares a lot of similarities with Reiko Asakawa, the protagonist of the original Japanese films.Introduced in the 2002 film, Rachel is an investigative journalist trying to figure out ways to escape death after watching a video that was cursed that she came across while investigating the death of her niece. Rachel is required to investigate the disappearance of Samara Morgan who is her son, in The Ring Two. Ruth Rachel's sister asks Rachel to look into the mysterious circumstances that led to Katie's sudden death. She tells Rachel that she found her daughter's disfigured corpse in the closet. She also reveals that the cause of Katie's death was due to a heart attack even though Katie being an incredibly healthy teenager. Katie's friends tell Rachel about the myth surrounding the tape with the curse and the story of Katie's friend Becca was placed in an institution after Katie's death. She also learns that Katie's boyfriend and two of her acquaintances passed away in bizarre accidents on the same evening at 10 PM. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she stays in Cabin 12. This cabin is one in which Katie and her friends saw the tape with the curse. Rachel is able to locate the tape and starts watching it, then the phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel seeks help from her ex-boyfriend Noah Clay, a video analyst. Rachel later discovers that Aidan (her son with Noah) looked at the tape and informed her that he believed in her. Rachel is able to find the whereabouts of the lighthouse. It was located on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan was a horse breeder cursed appeared on the tape. Rachel finds out that Anna was the mother of an adoptive daughter, Samara. She was able to create disturbing images in the minds of animals, humans and other objects. Rachel gets to know Anna's widower Richard and he asks her leave after she starts to ask questions about Samara.
